Google Assistant will soon be completely replaced by Gemini after almost ten years of service. Google quietly announces the retirement date: March 2026.
Google has quietly announced the retirement date of Google Assistant on its support page. Google Assistant will still be available “until March 2026,” just reaching its tenth anniversary. The assistant first appeared in 2016. With the arrival of Gemini, Google’s AI model, the assistant must make way. Google has not yet shared a detailed timeline.
Gemini vs. Assistant
It is already clear that Gemini is Google’s new digital helper and there is no longer a place for Google Assistant. For almost ten years, the assistant served as the primary point of contact for Android users. Gemini is already replacing the assistant on multiple platforms such as Android phones, Android Auto, Wear OS, Google TV, and others, as reported by Android Authority.
