Did you know that you can also use ChatGPT to translate texts? ChatGPT Translate is a translation tool like Google Translate that translates and, if desired, rewrites your text in a different style.
OpenAI still manages to surprise us. ChatGPT has quietly been expanded with a Translate tool, with which OpenAI is taking on Google’s translation tool of the same name and DeepL. The tool is available for free without an account or subscription (via www.chatgpt/translate) and has not even been officially announced to date. Bleeping Computer discovered its existence.
Google ChatGPT Translate
The interface of ChatGPT Translate is almost identical to that of Google Translate. You cut and paste text into the translation box, and ChatGPT translates it into a language of your choice. In addition to plain text, ChatGPT Translate can also extract text from images, such as a menu.

ChatGPT has a few more AI tricks up its sleeve: you can also have the translated text rewritten in a business or academic tone, or tailored to children, in one fell swoop. This extra feature can come in handy when drafting a professional email in another language. This does redirect you to the usual ChatGPT environment.
Support for Dutch currently only works in one direction. You can translate a text from Dutch into another language, but not in the reverse direction. Dutch cannot be found in the dropdown menu. ChatGPT can currently translate into about 25 languages via the Translate app. That is currently still a lot less than Google Translate and DeepL, but OpenAI will probably expand this as soon as the tool is more widely embraced.
