Fortinet expands protection of work environments with AI-driven solutions

Fortinet

Fortinet introduces FortiMail Workspace Security and adds new features to FortiDLP. It focuses on protecting email, browsers, and collaboration tools in hybrid work environments.

Fortinet announces the expansion of FortiMail with FortiMail Workspace Security. This solution protects not only emails but also browsers and collaboration tools such as Microsoft 365. “Securing sensitive data and user productivity requires an integrated strategy that considers both external threats and insider risks,” says Nirav Shah, Senior Vice President Products & Solutions at Fortinet. The company also releases an upgrade for FortiDLP.

Email security and data loss prevention

Fortinet expands FortiMail with FortiMail Workspace Security, a solution that protects not only email but also browsers and collaboration tools such as Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and Slack. The addition comes after the acquisition of Perception Point, an email security specialist. The platform can be used both on-premises and in the cloud, and supports multiple deployment modes.

The solution detects malicious files, phishing links, and suspicious activities in communication and collaboration applications. User activities within cloud environments are better monitored, allowing for faster identification of account takeovers. Fortinet also offers a 24/7 managed service for incident response that supports security teams in quickly analyzing and containing threats.

FortiDLP

FortiDLP also received an upgrade with features such as secure data flow, data lineage, and sequence detection. These tools make it possible to track the full journey of sensitive data, from creation to transfer and storage. This enables FortiDLP to support organizations in detecting risky behavior and protecting confidential information from unintended distribution or access via external platforms.

Protection in hybrid work environments

The new solutions address an increase in AI-driven cyberattacks, as evidenced by the 2025 Fortinet Global Threat Landscape Report. Cybercriminals are increasingly using AI for deepfakes, voice cloning, and advanced phishing, among other things.

According to Fortinet, the increased use of SaaS and collaboration tools in hybrid work models requires an integrated security approach. The combination of FortiMail Workspace Security and FortiDLP aims to help companies better protect sensitive data and end-users, regardless of their location or tools used.
