Fortinet Announces Acquisition of SaaS Security Specialist Suridata to Expand its SASE Platform

Fortinet has acquired SaaS security specialist Suridata. The company is integrating Suridata’s SSPM solution into its Unified SASE offering to better address risk “s in complex SaaS environments. The acquisition aligns with Fortinet”’s broader strategy to further expand its SASE platform and better support customers in securing their cloud-based workplaces.

Insight and control over SaaS apps

The adoption of SaaS applications is increasing significantly, leading to new security challenges such as misconfigurations, identity abuse, and unmanaged integrations. Suridata’s SaaS Security Posture Management (SSPM) solution provides continuous monitoring and automatic enforcement of security policies within SaaS platforms. This functionality helps companies map risks and respond adequately.

Suridata’s technology enhances Fortinet’s existing SASE and CASB offerings by providing real-time detection of anomalous behavior in SaaS apps, centralized access management, and control over AI usage within cloud environments. This allows organizations to enforce their SaaS policies and better comply with compliance requirements.

Threats via SaaS

According to Fortinet’s Global Threat Landscape Report from 2025, over 100 billion stolen data points circulate annually on underground markets. Much of this data is used in so-called “combo lists”, which cybercriminals use to log into SaaS services. Fortinet points out that identity-based attacks are on the rise, partly due to the rapid emergence of AI-integrated apps.
