Microsoft plans a public preview of Android support in Windows 11 next month. The update further brings other new features to try.
Microsoft makes it clear in a blog post that soon the first major update will be unloaded for Windows 11 since its launch last year. This will soon allow you to finally show the clock on external monitors and more intuitively mute your microphone. Microsoft is also working on a return of the famous drag-and-drop functionality.
The Notepad and Media Player apps also get a visual upgrade with support for dark mode at last.
The most important update for many is support for Android apps on Windows 11, which will be launched as a public preview next month. Microsoft repeatedly emphasizes that the feature is still in beta. Since last October, a limited group of testers have already been able to work with a limited selection of Android apps. Microsoft is partnering with the Amazon Appstore for app distribution.
Finally, the update also brings an easier way to share a window within Microsoft Teams. All you have to do is “hover” over an icon and click the “Share this window” button there.
