Brighten up your instant messages to colleagues with 3D emojis in Teams

Microsoft is changing emojis in Teams. The change makes it possible to add a 3D emoji to a chat message.

3D emojis are in the preview phase of Teams. More than 1,800 emojis are getting a revamp as a result.

More offerings

The 3D emojis are also available in different skin colors. In the old emojis, it is also possible to adjust a person’s skin color by right-clicking on the emoji. The choice is only available for emoji’s that have a bullet in the upper right corner.

“Users will see some changes to most Teams emojis that were previously available, along with some new choices,” writes Kaushal Mehta, engineer at Microsoft Teams.

Testing now

It is possible to immediately surprise a colleague with a 3D emoji. To do so, click on the three dots right at the top. Go to Info and point to the Developer preview Indicate. Teams will restart and immediately features 3D emojis.

Among other things, these emoji are now available in 3D

Microsoft is hinting at making the same changes to Windows. In the meantime, Windows 11 users will be able to use 2D emojis. The first major update to Windows 11 does give Teams more features. For example, it’s easier to mute your microphone during a meeting and easier to share content from your screen with others.
