windows update

Microsoft is making Windows 11 version 24H2 available on multiple devices after removing two upgrade roadblocks. These include the problem with the fingerprint sensor and Voicemeeter app.

Since the rollout of Windows 11 24H2, many problems have surfaced with the new update. Recently, hotkeys Alt + Tab caused a black screen, or a bug left users with 9 GB of unremovable files. Microsoft has now reportedly lifted two upgrade blocks that affected several PCs, Windows Latest knows.

This makes Windows 11 24H2 now available for more PCs. These include PCs with a certain type of fingerprint sensor and others with the Voicemeeter app. This removes the upgrade blockages, but it does not mean that the problems are gone.

Fingerprint sensor

Since Oct. 1, the new update to Windows 11 24H2 has been available on several PCs. Since then, various reports have also been pouring in of problems ranging from black to blue screens, or unremovable files and faltering task bars. And the list could go on and on.

With Windows 11 KB5044284, Microsoft said the fingerprint problem had been fixed. Microsoft confirmed after testing the patch for a month that the upgrade blockage has been abandoned on PCs with a fingerprint sensor.

Voicemeeter app

In addition to the fingerprint sensor issue, Windows Latest additionally noted that Microsoft has lifted the update block on devices running the audio software Voicemeeter. Following the rollout of Windows 11 version 24H2, users were suddenly experiencing blue screen errors when using Voicemeeter. Microsoft consequently applied a security freeze that blocked Windows 11 24H2 for devices running the Voicemeeter app.
