The Windows Media Creation Tool can now be used to install Windows 11 25H2.
Microsoft has updated the Media Creation Tool so that users can now also install Windows 11 25H2, including the December 2025 Patch Tuesday updates. This makes a clean installation via USB or other boot media possible again.
Most recent version
Earlier this month, Microsoft already released security updates for Windows 11 and Windows 10, and the company started the broad rollout of Windows 11 25H2 via Windows Update. Users can perform that update by activating a setting. However, those who prefer to start completely from scratch can now use the Media Creation Tool.
The tool automatically downloads the latest Windows images from Microsoft’s update servers. For Windows 11, this currently also includes update KB5072033. Some features of 25H2 only become active after a clean installation, which makes the Media Creation Tool necessary for some users.
Unchanged serial number
The version number of the tool is not adjusted. It remains at 10.0.26100.7019, despite previous problems after the release of 25H2. That update introduced bugs in the Media Creation Tool with bugs on both Windows 11 and Windows 10, which was annoying because Windows 10 had just run out of support.
According to Microsoft, these problems have been resolved. The tool is available via Microsoft’s official download pages for Windows 11 and Windows 10.
