Google is testing a new, integrated application for Windows that helps search for relevant information on your Windows PC.

Google is launching a new app for Windows that allows you to easily search your Windows PC. This app offers an alternative to Windows’ built-in search function and can search for information on the web, in your files, or in cloud services. The search bar is easily activated by pressing Alt + Space. The application is currently in a testing phase and is not yet generally available.

The app can be activated by pressing Alt + Space, which brings up a Google search bar on your screen. Here you can enter a search query. It then searches both online and locally in your files for relevant information. Moreover, the search function can also browse through your installed apps or files in cloud services to provide you with the right answer.

Google emphasizes that this is an experiment. Consequently, the app is only available as a test for a limited group of users. Currently, the app is available to some users via Labs in the United States. Additionally, your computer must have Windows 10 or newer, and using it requires a personal Google account.
