The AI Mode in Google Search will soon be able to reserve a restaurant visit or buy festival tickets.
Google announces that it will personalize its AI Mode in Google Search with agent functions, such as restaurant reservations and ticket purchases.
New Capabilities
The AI Mode is not the same as the AI summaries that you see at the top of Google search results. With AI Mode, you get an interactive AI assistant that thinks, asks questions, and takes action. Google is expanding its capabilities with restaurant reservations and soon with local service appointments and ticket booking.
How does it work? “When you provide the right information to AI Mode, such as the number of people, date, time, location, the agent searches for suitable restaurants,” according to the announcement. “Once you’ve chosen a restaurant, the AI agent completes the reservation.”
Available in more than 180 Countries
In the United States, users get more personalized results based on preferences and interests. For example, the AI agent can look up previously searched locations and base recommendations on them. Additionally, Google is rolling out its AI Mode to more than 180 countries. Belgium and the Netherlands are not yet included. The AI Mode is currently only available in English.
