Adobe has unveiled an experimental prototype AI demo of Project Super Sonic at its annual MAX conference. That technology allows you to create background sounds and sound effects based on prompts, object recognition and even your own voice.

Three different modes

Generating sound with AI prompts is nothing new, as many companies have been offering such a similar service for a while. It is mainly the two other modes that set Adobe apart from the competition. An object recognition model allows users to click on an object in a video. This immediately creates a prompt to then create a corresponding sound effect. Thus, different models are cleverly used in one workflow.

The third mode works on the basis of voice sounds. Users can imitate the sound they need and upload it. Project Super Sonic then automatically generates an appropriate sound effect.

Many experimental features Adobe is showing are eventually woven into Adobe’s Creative Suite. While Super Sonic would be an ideal addition to Adobe Premiere, it is not yet certain if it will ever be officially rolled out.

Super Sonic’s developers also collaborated on Adobe’s Firefly. That is a video generation tool that solves several video editing problems. The model can use text-to-video to generate perfect b-rolls, remove unwanted objects from a scene and create smooth transitions.
