Gemini leaps into interactive 3D visualizations

Google gives Gemini the ability to generate 3D models and virtualizations.

Google Gemini is receiving a major upgrade: the chatbot can now generate interactive 3D models and simulations based on user prompts.

With this new feature, users can not only view models but also actively manipulate and adjust them in real-time. Anthropic recently gave Claude the ability to automatically generate graphs and charts, while OpenAI added similar visualizations to ChatGPT.

From answer to experience

While AI chatbots traditionally generate text or static images, Gemini goes a step further. Users can run a simulation, adjust parameters, and see the changes immediately.

For example, if you ask how the moon orbits the Earth, you get a 3D model that you can rotate, zoom in on, and customize. This includes sliders to change the speed, buttons to pause the animation, and checkboxes to hide visual elements like orbital lines.

Education and analysis as primary use cases

The feature seems primarily aimed at education and technical applications. Users can, for instance, visualize phenomena such as the Doppler effect or a double pendulum and experiment with variables.

The feature is available to all Gemini users with a Pro subscription. After a prompt, an option appears to open the visualization, making the interactive elements available.
