Digi partners with Bpost: phone subscriptions for sale in post offices

bpost

Bpost and Digi are partnering to offer mobile and internet services through post offices.

The brand-new telecom operator Digi will soon sell phone subscriptions in physical Bpost offices. With this, Digi hopes to make “affordable telecommunications available to everyone,” according to Jeroen Degadt, General Manager at Digi. With 655 physical locations, Bpost aims to strengthen its role as a service center, while Digi expands its reach. The rollout will take place in phases and is expected to cover all post offices by this summer.

The brand-new telecom operator recently came under fire after it installed an internet network in Brussels without a permit. The telecom company entered the telecom market at the end of 2024, which was followed by a difficult start. In its first year, Digi generated revenue of five million euros with costs rising to 21.8 million euros, which were necessary for new infrastructure and network expansion.

Post offices

At this moment, Digi services are already available in the 83 largest post offices in the country. The further rollout will happen in phases, with the goal of providing Bpost’s 655 post offices with the new offering by the summer of 2026. Customers will then be able to easily subscribe to Digi’s mobile and internet services at the counter, significantly lowering the barrier to connection.

The partnership has been concluded for a period of five years. According to Tina Hernalsteen, Director of Retail & Banking at Bpost, post offices are thus strengthening their role as the only physical service provider in many municipalities. After previously adding financial and transfer services, telecommunications is now being offered as the next essential utility.

Selection process

For the partnership, Bpost launched a commercial selection process open to all telecom operators. After a pilot with various providers, Bpost chose Digi based on objective quality and selection criteria.
