Accenture has reached an agreement to acquire network data company Ookla. By integrating Ookla’s data platforms, Accenture aims to provide businesses and telecom operators with better insights into network performance and digital experiences.

Accenture has announced plans to acquire Ookla , a company that analyzes network performance through services such as Speedtest and Downdetector. The consultancy firm intends to leverage Ookla’s data and analytical tools to help organizations better manage their network and digital infrastructure.

Network data as a foundation for AI applications

Accenture expects that combining its services with Ookla’s data platforms will offer new opportunities for companies deploying AI. According to the company, reliable network measurements are necessary to improve performance, security, and digital experiences.

Ookla’s technology is used by telecom operators, among others, to compare network performance and plan investments. Additionally, cloud providers can use the data to monitor infrastructure for AI and edge data centers. Companies use the tools to design private 5G and Wi-Fi networks and to troubleshoot issues.
