GitHub is expanding the availability of Claude and Codex to Copilot Business and Pro users. These AI agents can now be deployed within existing GitHub workflows without additional subscriptions. The integration provides a shared history and context across different platforms.

GitHub has expanded the availability of Claude and Codex to Copilot Business and Pro users. Earlier this month, Copilot Enterprise customers and Pro+ customers already gained access to these AI agents. Now, more teams can benefit from these tools within their existing GitHub workflows.

The integration of Claude and Codex and Copilot on a single shared platform within GitHub is beneficial for governance, shared context, and shared memory. The agents have access to repository code and code history, issues, pull requests, Copilot Memory, repository instructions, and policies.

How to enable and use Claude and Codex

For Copilot Pro users, enabling Claude and Codex is simple. Users can go to the Copilot coding agent settings, select which repositories the agents are allowed to use, and then enable Claude, Codex, or both.

For Copilot Business users, an administrator must enable the agents at both the enterprise and organization levels. At the enterprise level, users go to Enterprise AI Controls and enable Claude and/or Codex under ‘Partner Agents’. At the organization level, users go to Settings, then Copilot, then Coding agent, and enable Claude and/or Codex under ‘Partner Agents’.
