Gmail increases attachment limit for Enterprise Plus customers

Google is increasing the maximum attachment size in Gmail for Workspace Enterprise Plus customers. Users can now attach files up to 50 MB directly to an email, while the limit for incoming messages increases to 70 MB.

With this adjustment, Google is doubling the previous sending limit of 25 MB per attachment in Gmail. This allows users to send larger presentations, spreadsheets, and PDF files directly as attachments without having to share a Google Drive link first. Unfortunately, not everyone can benefit from this update. The increase applies specifically to customers with the Enterprise Plus subscription within Google Workspace.

In addition to the outgoing limit, Google is also increasing the maximum size of incoming messages to 70 MB. This should ensure that organizations can receive larger emails from external parties without any issues.

Less dependent on Drive

Until now, users had to rely on Google Drive for larger files. This remains an option and, according to Google, is suitable for collaborating on shared documents. However, in some situations, organizations prefer a traditional attachment, for example, when communicating with external partners or in regulated processes where a direct file transfer is required.

With the new limit, users can add files up to 50 MB in Gmail. Administrators are in control and can determine whether the higher attachment limit is activated within their organization.

Phased Rollout

The rollout started on February 23, 2026, and will take place in phases over a period of up to fifteen days. Both rapid and scheduled release domains are eligible.

The attachment limit increase is exclusively available to Google Workspace Enterprise Plus customers. No separate setting is required for end users to use the feature.
