WhatsApp is almost ready to fully roll out a much-needed feature. This will make it possible to switch operating systems on your smartphone without losing instant messages. For the desktop and web version, the platform appears to be tinkering with the two-factor authentication capability.

A new version of WhatsApp is waiting for a wider audience. Beta versions show that two much requested features are likely to make their appearance so soon.

From Android to iOS

The transfer tool to transfer message history from Android to iOS is nearing completion. The feature was seen in WhatsApp’s beta for iOS in version 22.2.74. Screenshots from WABetaInfo now show that the feature was also released in version 2.21.20.11 for Android.

The communications platform announced back in the summer of 2021 that it would be possible to switch from iOS to Android without losing instant messages. A few months later, this feature was rolled out to Samsung and later to Google’s Pixel devices. How to make the switch hassle-free with a Samsung device can be found here.

WABetaInfo shared some screenshots of the new feature and from them, the application seems to ask for the user’s permission before starting the migration process. Furthermore, you will need the “Switch to iOS” application, found in the Play Store.

2FA

The desktop and web version of WhatsApp, then, appears to be getting more secure soon. To that end, the communication platform is rolling out two-factor authentication to these users. WABetaInfo published a separate article for this purpose describing the progress of the rollout of this application. When and if both features will be issued is currently unknown.
