Synology introduces C2 Surveillance, a new cloud-based video surveillance service that allows businesses to set up camera surveillance across multiple locations without their own servers and with minimal installation efforts.
Synology C2 Surveillance enables quick connection and management of surveillance cameras without license limitations. The portal targets organizations that need scalable camera management via the cloud, without having to worry about the underlying infrastructure.
Quick Installation and Streamlined Management
C2 Surveillance requires no on-site servers. Installation can be done within minutes, even via a mobile device. Companies can easily add new locations without specialized IT knowledge. The interface offers support for AI-driven detection, which according to Synology is easy to set up.

To ensure continuity, C2 Surveillance works with a so-called “continuity-first” architecture. Camera footage is stored locally on microSD cards and can optionally be backed up to the cloud. In case of network issues, surveillance remains active through an offline fail-over mode.
Central Control over Multiple Locations
For organizations with multiple sites, the solution offers centralized camera management via the cloud. Thanks to integration with Windows Active Directory, access rights can be managed centrally. Administrators can grant access based on roles and locations.
Additionally, a low-bandwidth mode is available, which reduces data usage by up to 50 percent without significantly impacting image quality. This makes the service suitable for locations with limited internet connections.

C2 Surveillance supports security features such as AES-128 encryption, MFA, and extensive access control. The service complies with standards such as ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type II.
Synology C2 Surveillance will be available later this year. An exact launch date is not yet known.
