Synology launches the new compact NAS DS425+ with a maximum capacity of 80 TB, aimed at SMEs.
The new DS425+ from Synology is a compact NAS with space for four drives, targeted at smaller business environments with fixed storage requirements.
Compact System Focused on Consistent Storage
Synology has designed the DS425+ as a fixed storage platform with a maximum capacity of 80 TB. The system features a 2.5GbE network port and an additional 1GbE RJ-45 connection. For faster performance, the device also supports M.2 NVMe SSDs, which can be used for both caching and full all-flash configuration.
Recently, Synology announced that it would reduce the compatibility of their NAS “plus” systems. From now on, only Synology drives can be used. This applies to the recently announced DS725+ and DS425+, as well as DS1825+ and DS1525+.
The system operates on Synology’s DiskStation Manager (DSM) platform. The DS425+ requires the use of compatible hard drives. This list is compiled based on extensive tests to ensure reliability and long-term operation. Synology also provides a validation program for third parties, allowing other drive manufacturers to have their products certified.
Data Storage, Backup, and Camera Management
The DS425+ is designed for various applications within small business environments. Synology Drive enables the system to be used as a private cloud solution. Users can synchronize files across multiple locations and devices, with support for Windows, macOS, and Linux.
With the Active Backup Suite, the system offers capabilities for centrally managing backups of physical devices, virtual machines, and cloud accounts. The Surveillance Station functionality enables video surveillance, including intelligent analysis capabilities and scalability to multiple cameras.
The DS425+ is available from today through the usual sales channels. The recommended retail price is €543.29 including VAT.
