Seagate introduces a new version of its iconic-looking external LaCie Rugged SSD.
Seagate announces the latest version of the LaCie Rugged SSD. With their gray housing and orange protection, the Lacie Rugged SSDs are often seen among creative professionals. This latest edition is visually not very different from its predecessors, but it does pack extra horsepower.

The Rugged SSD4 achieves read speeds of up to 4,000 MB/s and write speeds of up to 3,800 MB/s. That’s about four times faster than the first Rugged SSD from 2020. Large files can be quickly transferred or edited directly from the drive via the USB-C 40Gbps connection. The drive is compatible with all devices that support USB-C (or Thunderbolt 4).
Drop, Water, and Dust Resistant
Seagate offers the Lacie Rugged SSD4 with capacities up to 4TB. The SSD is, of course, equipped with an orange bumper that protects the device against drops of up to 3 meters. The IP54 certification indicates that the drive is resistant to dust and splashing water.
The LaCie Rugged SSD4 is available in three storage variants: 1TB for €169.99, 2TB for €299.99, and 4TB for €529.99. Seagate provides three years of Rescue Data Services with the purchase of the drive. This means that in case of data loss, you can turn to the manufacturer’s data recovery lab to recover data if possible.
