The latest update to the Samsung Galaxy Connect app allows you to connect your Galaxy device to other devices outside the Samsung ecosystem, provided you have Windows 11.
Samsung is rolling out an update to its Galaxy Connect app. This application allows Galaxy devices to seamlessly connect to your phone, tablet, and computer. Initially, it was not possible to connect to devices outside of Samsung’s own range, but that now seems to be changing, as noted by Android Authority.
Connecting beyond Samsung
With the cross-device Galaxy Connect app, users can connect their phone to a Galaxy Book or Tab. For example, you can use the Galaxy Tab as a second screen. Until recently, the application was only compatible with Samsung devices. That now seems to be changing.
Samsung announced in the changelog for version 2.1.6.0 that it is bringing its continuity layer to non-Galaxy Book PCs, according to Android Authority. This means you can also connect your device to Windows computers. A key limitation is that the application only works with PCs running Windows 11. Furthermore, the app is only supported on Intel- or AMD-based X64 PCs.
So, do you have a Galaxy phone and an Intel Windows 11 PC? Then you can use Galaxy Connect to link your devices. This allows you, among other things, to continue browsing the webpage you visited on your mobile device, copy and paste between devices, or use it as a second screen.
