Workday Launches a Series of New AI Agents Designed to Automate Repetitive Tasks for Employees
Workday expands its portfolio of AI solutions with a new series of AI agents within the Illuminate platform. These digital assistants are aimed at accelerating HR processes, improving employee experiences, and streamlining financial tasks.
Recruitment and Accounting
The new AI agents are designed to support organizations with specific operational tasks. For instance, the Contingent Sourcing Agent accelerates temporary recruitment by detecting available candidates and shortening the screening process. Additionally, the Contract Intelligence Agent assists in analyzing contracts, automatically identifying risks, deadlines, and compensations. The Contract Negotiation Agent, on the other hand, proactively suggests contract texts, detects risks, and proposes revisions.
For finance departments, there’s the Document Driven Accounting Agent. This agent automates bookings, invoicing, and registration by extracting data directly from documents. Procurement processes are also addressed: the Supplier Contracts Agent reviews agreements to evaluate compliance and commercial opportunities.
Employees and Managers
Workday also caters to the needs of frontline employees. The Frontline Agent supports tasks such as absence registration and shift replacement. The Self-Service Agent focuses on quickly answering questions and automating common tasks.

The new agents are part of the broader Illuminate platform, which Workday positions as AI infrastructure for HR and finance. According to the company, the system is based on a large dataset of HR and financial transactions. This context is said to be necessary to make AI tasks reliable and business-relevant.
The Contract Intelligence Agent and Contract Negotiation Agent are immediately available. Other agents will be available to early users from late 2025, with broader rollout planned for early 2026. Companies can manage the agents through the Workday Agent System of Record, a central dashboard allowing IT and business leaders to monitor the deployment and performance of agents.
