Microsoft has announced that the controversial Windows Recall feature will be disabled by default on business PCs.
Microsoft will have Windows Recall disabled by default on business PCs, PCWorld knows. The feature regularly takes screenshots of what you’re doing on your PC. That’s why it got a lot of headwinds when it was announced; security experts and ordinary Windows users alike were less than enthusiastic about Microsoft keeping track of every use with screenshots.
Activation is not so simple
Although Microsoft decided to recall the feature back in June, Recall seems to be here now. If you want to use Windows Recall on your business PC, not only must it meet Copilot+ specifications, but you also need permission from the IT administrator to turn on the feature. Microsoft announced that in a blog.
Even for non-business users, the feature is not automatically activated: you must first sign in to use Recall. That way, you can’t accidentally turn on Recall. This approach is expected to ensure a lower number of users than Microsoft had originally hoped.
The launch of Recall was originally scheduled for this summer, was postponed to October and is now said to be delayed until December.
