Microsoft gives Power Apps an agent injection for faster and scalable development of business applications.

During Ignite 2025, Microsoft announces a completely renewed version of Power Apps, with a strong focus on AI, agents and scalable app governance. The updates make it possible to build, manage and scale business applications in minutes using natural language and AI assistants.

From Idea to App

The new Power Apps experience is available in web version and introduces a development environment where you collaborate with specialized AI agents. Users can describe their ideas in natural language. The agents then automatically generate data models to complete application code, including forms, APIs and interfaces. The apps are further refined through interactions with the agents or via a visual editor.

Power Apps is now more closely integrated with Microsoft 365 Copilot. This means that users get access to AI capabilities such as summarizing, analyzing or form completion within their applications.

Via the integrated Model Context Protocol server, agents can directly interact with app functionalities and data from other Microsoft apps, such as Outlook or Teams. An email with customer information in Outlook can automatically trigger an update in a linked Power App, without the user having to open the app, to give an example.

Management and Visibility

For IT administrators, Microsoft introduces comprehensive platform management via the Power Platform Admin Center. With the new inventory and usage reports, administrators get insight into all apps, agents and automations in their organization. They can easily see which agents are most active, which apps are heavily used, and which resources need to be reassigned during staff changes.

A renewed ‘advisor’ also provides recommendations for better governance, such as restricting unwanted regions or monitoring sensitive data. These features are designed to increase operational efficiency while maintaining security and compliance.

Traditional code application developers can now also host their projects on the Power Platform. This way they combine the flexibility of custom solutions with built-in authentication via Microsoft Entra, access to 1,400+ connectors and support for lifecycle management.

Microsoft positions Power Apps as the platform of choice for organizations that want to deploy AI in their application development. Thanks to the integration of natural language, collaboration with agents and scalable platform support, Microsoft aims for faster, better managed app development in a business context. The new experiences are available in preview from December.
