Microsoft Introduces New AI Feature for Windows Notepad, Helping You Write Text from a Blank Page
Nothing escapes Microsoft’s AI eye, including Windows Notepad. Microsoft continues to roll out new AI features for Windows applications at a rapid pace. In Notepad, you’ll soon be able to have AI write text for you, as PCWorld notes. The feature is being tested through the Insiders channel and will likely roll out more broadly soon.
Today, Copilot is already available in Notepad. Microsoft’s AI assistant helps you (re)write or summarize notes if you’re logged in with a Microsoft account that has access to Copilot. By right-clicking anywhere in your notepad, you’ll be able to ask AI to write text for you. Type your instructions, and Notepad will convert them into text, which you can then accept or reject.
The Perfect Screenshot
The test update for Windows 11 also includes new AI features for Paint and Snipping Tool. With Paint, you’ll be able to design AI stickers or apply image editing to specific parts of the image you highlight. Snipping Tool will get a “perfect screenshot” feature for capturing screenshots without the need for cropping afterward.
Because these features use local computing power, you’ll need to have a Microsoft-approved Copilot+-PC. This also applies to Recall, the controversial feature that Microsoft has finally made available after much back and forth, and which our editorial team has already extensively tested.
