As the deadline for Windows 10 approaches, the adoption rate of Windows 11 is finally taking off. In Belgium, Windows 11 has overtaken its predecessor.
Six months and seven days: that’s how far we are from the day Microsoft ends support for Windows 10. Windows users seem to be gradually getting the message. While Windows 10 was still standing strong at the beginning of the year, the adoption curve is slowly tilting in favor of Windows 11.

Statcounter finds that at the end of March, 54 percent of Windows users worldwide are using Windows 10. That’s still more than the 42 percent who have switched to Windows 11, but in December Windows 11 hadn’t even reached 35 percent. And yes: there’s still three percent using Windows 7 or older versions, despite support having ended years ago.
Power Shift in Belgium
In the Belgian IT market, the ratio between Windows 11 and Windows 10 is completely different. Belgian Windows users appear to be pioneers in adopting the latest Windows version. ITdaily has twice polled its readers about which operating system runs on their PC, and both times Windows 11 came out on top.
This trend is now also noticeable in the broader Belgian figures from Statcounter. Windows 11 reaches a market share of 50 percent for the first time, while Windows 10 further drops to 47 percent. The power shift actually occurred in February, although it was a tie between Windows 11 and Windows 10 then. Now Windows 11 seems to have definitively taken over the torch.
On October 14, Microsoft will end support for Windows 10. Upgrading your device to Windows 11 is the simplest solution for Windows 10 users, if it qualifies at least. Other paths to consider are paying for extended support, buying a completely new PC, or, and this option is by no means recommended, continuing to use Windows 10 without updates.
