Microsoft will end support for Windows 11 23H2 next month. An update to a more recent version of Windows 11 is necessary.
Microsoft will stop supporting Windows 11 23H2 next month. This version of Windows 11, launched in fall 2023, will receive its final updates in November. This specifically applies to the Home and Pro editions. Microsoft wants users to update their system to a more recent edition of Windows 11, such as the newly launched version 25H2.
Users of Windows 11 Enterprise, Education, and IoT Enterprise get a brief reprieve. Microsoft will support these editions for one more year, until November 2026. Unsure which version of Windows is running on your laptop? Open the start menu and type Winver followed by Enter .
Security Updates
Microsoft is choosing to require users to upgrade their Windows 11 versions. This way, Redmond doesn’t have to provide security updates for an ever-increasing proliferation of Windows 11 versions. Continuing to use Windows without security update support poses a risk, and we strongly advise against it for both organizations and individuals.
In principle, every device with Windows 11 23H2 is compatible with an update. This contrasts with Windows 10, which is also about to reach end of support. Many devices are (artificially) incompatible with Windows 11, forcing users to obtain access to additional updates, whether paid or not.
