OpenAI hits 900 million weekly active users on ChatGPT.
ChatGPT has reached 900 million weekly active users, OpenAI shared in a press release. Furthermore, the count for paying users stands at more than 50 million consumer subscribers. OpenAI is also raising $110 billion in investments from companies including Amazon, SoftBank, and Nvidia.
900 million weekly users
In August 2025, the company reported 700 million weekly active users. In six months’ time, OpenAI increased this number by 200 million users. The use of Codex is also increasing. The weekly number of Codex users has more than tripled since the beginning of the year to 1.6 million, according to the company.
“Subscriber growth clearly accelerated at the beginning of the year: January and February look set to be the biggest months for new subscribers in our history. People use ChatGPT to learn, write, plan, and build,” according to OpenAI.
Partnerships
Furthermore, the company announced $110 billion in new investments. This includes $30 million from SoftBank, $30 million from Nvidia, and $50 million from Amazon. This is the largest private funding round in history.
“We have also entered into a strategic partnership with Amazon and secured computing power for next-generation inference from Nvidia. More financial investors are expected to join as the round progresses,” OpenAI concludes.
