WhatsApp is testing the Meta AI writing assistant feature that provides suggestions to improve your messages in the app.
WhatsApp is currently testing a new feature in the beta version of the chat app, reports WABetaInfo. The Meta AI writing assistant feature appears in the latest iOS and Android beta versions for some users. By clicking on the pen icon, Meta AI provides writing suggestions for your message. The writing assistant is currently available in TestFlight beta release 25.22.10.74 for iOS and 2.25.23.7 for Android.

In June, Meta rolled out its AI chatbot in Europe. In early August, the Dutch version of Meta AI appeared in the WhatsApp chatbot. Now, a new feature seems to be in development in the beta release for iOS and Android. After typing your message in WhatsApp, you will soon be able to click on the pen icon. Meta AI, based on Llama 4, then provides improvement suggestions in various tones.
When you subsequently send your message, the recipient won’t know that your message has been improved with AI. The feature is also based on Private Processing, ensuring that data is encrypted and messages are sent and processed anonymously. This system ensures that suggestions disappear immediately after delivery.
The feature needs to be enabled manually. It’s not yet clear whether this test version supports Dutch.
