The French Pollen Robotics launches a small robot that helps AI enthusiasts with coding.

Hugging Face announces the Reachy Mini, a compact open source AI robot designed for AI experiments, coding, and education. This small robot is primarily intended for hobbyists, developers, or teachers who want to explore robotics and AI. Reachy Mini Lite and Reachy Mini will be available in fall 2025 for $299 and $449 respectively, excluding VAT.

Designed for AI Applications

Reachy Mini is a programmable robot standing 28 centimeters tall, designed for hobbyists, developers, researchers, and teachers who want to work with robotics and AI. The robot comes in two versions: a lite model without computing power, and a wireless model with built-in Raspberry Pi 5, camera, microphones, speaker, and battery. Both versions come as self-assembly kits and are fully programmable in Python. Support for JavaScript and Scratch will follow later.

The robot is designed for human interaction and can make expressive movements with its head, body, and antennae. Thanks to integrated microphones, a speaker, and a wide-angle camera, Reachy Mini can process and respond to audiovisual input. The software and hardware are completely open-source and are supported by an online community through the Hugging Face platform.

Educational

Reachy Mini specifically targets educational and creative applications. Users can easily upload, download, and share robot behaviors. At launch, Pollen Robotics will make fifteen pre-programmed behaviors available through the Hugging Face hub, allowing users to experiment immediately. The accompanying simulation environment allows projects to be developed without physical access to the device.

With prices starting at $299 excluding VAT and shipping costs, Pollen Robotics aims to make robotics accessible to a wide audience. The robot is primarily intended for home use, educational institutions, and research environments where budget and space are limited. Delivery starts from late summer 2025 and continues into 2026.
