Qnap is grouping its existing backup applications under the new brand name Hyper Data Protection. The software itself remains unchanged, but it gets a uniform identity that should improve the user experience and recognizability.
Qnap is restructuring its backup solutions. The brand name Hyper Data Protection, abbreviated as HDP, will now cover all of Qnap’s backup tools, regardless of purpose or platform. This includes applications for backing up PCs, servers, virtual machines, SaaS services such as Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace, and WordPress websites.
The functionality of the existing applications remains unchanged, but Qnap is introducing new names within the HDP range. For example, Hyper Data Protector is being renamed HDP for PC/VM, Boxafe becomes HDP for SaaS, and MARS changes to HDP for WordPress. The NetBak PC Agent will now be called HDP PC Agent.
Simpler for users
Qnap hopes that this clear brand structure will make it easier for users to recognize and trust solutions for various backup needs.

The name change has no impact on existing installations or licenses. Users do not need to reinstall or reconfigure anything. Existing backup tasks will continue to work. The new product names will be visible in the user interface and accompanying documentation.
Qnap is positioning Hyper Data Protection as a long-term data protection strategy. The manufacturer wants to continue expanding and improving its entire backup portfolio within this brand structure.
