Microsoft has acknowledged the issues with Remote Desktop Platform and provides a solution.
Since the 24H2 update, users have been experiencing problems with the Remote Desktop app. Microsoft is now rolling out an emergency update on the server side, although it may take up to 48 hours for the update to become available for download.
What was the problem?
Security updates for 11 24H2 have already caused users many headaches: Explorer crashed, security updates couldn’t be installed, printers could no longer connect or started printing gibberish. Additionally, some systems experienced blue screens and black screens or even refused to shut down. Nevertheless, Microsoft forced its users to download the update.
Since January, users have noticed that Remote Desktop sessions (RDP) suddenly stop or freeze during login. After connecting, the screen remains frozen. Behind the scenes, the system continues to run, but you are forced to restart. The problems have worsened due to the B5053598 security update, despite Microsoft’s earlier claims that the February patch solved the issue.
KIR Rollout Should Restore Sessions
The rollout is being done via Microsoft’s Known Issue Rollback (KIR). This reverses the problem on the server side without users having to update themselves. Those who want a fix sooner can restart their system.
