Reflection Removal, the new experimental feature to remove window reflections, is available in preview for Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Bridge.
Adobe Photoshop is getting a new experimental feature that makes reflections in windows disappear. The feature was announced in 2023, and is now available in preview for Creative Cloud subscribers. For now, it works only in Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Bridge. Support for Adobe Lightroom will follow later, Engadget writes.
Reflection removal
The Reflection Removal tool uses artificial intelligence (AI) to isolate two separate images. The reflection and the object behind the window are thus separated, and the AI model was trained with thousands of reflection-free photographs. Thus, it was eventually able to recognize and remove reflections.
Adobe writes in a blog that the feature works best when the reflection occupies the entire image. The tool does not (yet) handle reflections on small or distant windows, wine glasses or car bodies well. That should improve in the future, however.
Adobe is increasingly integrating AI functionality into its applications. For example, Firefly AI enables video generation, while generative AI is deployed in Lightroom, Photoshop and Illustrator. Photoshop Elements also received AI for quick and easy photo editing.
