Adobe makes premium features in Fresco free for all users

Adobe Fresco app

Adobe is making previously paying features of sketch application Fresco free for all.

Adobe is going into direct competition with other popular drawing applications such as Procreate and Clip Studio Paint. They are doing so by making the paid features free for all users. Fresco has a range of tools that creative people can use to get started, including sketch and watercolor brushes, among others.

Underdog position

Adobe Fresco was designed for touch screens and is available on iPad, iPhone and Windows PCs. Paying features were behind a subscription package. To use Adobe’s full font library, a wide selection of brushes and the ability to import custom pencils, you paid $9.99 a year.

So as of today, all features are free. The app came out in 2019, but was not picked up by the general public. That was the case with other Adobe apps such as Photoshop and Illustrator. It also doesn’t help that its biggest competitors are quite popular. They are cheaper, easy to use, and available on iPads from day one. That investment is often cheaper than a full PC or professional drawing tablet.

Fresco does not use AI options for now, but it does have some advantages over Procreate. Fresco has a desktop app and supports cloud storage. By making the app free, Adobe hopes to attract new users.
