Microsoft Teams gets a Storyline feed and follow button

Soon you will be able to follow people in Teams and see their updates.

Meta may be discontinuing Workplace, but Microsoft is continuing on the same lines. The tech giant is going to test a Facebook-like feed in Teams, called Storyline. That’s what The Verge knows from several anonymous sources.

Storyline lets users post and comment, similar to Facebook or LinkedIn. Microsoft sees this as a way to share announcements, project updates and milestones within teams. That feature is based on Viva Engage, which was already available in Teams, but Storyline is displayed more prominently in the interface.

So users will soon be able to create their own Storyline posts. Those posts will have their own tab and appear in the Teams activity feed. Colleagues can follow each other and like those posts. Microsoft is also said to be working on paid features, such as profile analytics, for Teams Premium users. Companies can self-moderate and decide who can post.

Storyline will be rolled out more broadly in the coming months, along with other Teams updates including inevitable Copilot features, live transcription and improved video quality.
