Microsoft Paint gets genAI functionalities thanks to a Copilot button

Thanks to a new update, all AI features in Microsoft Paint are neatly listed.

Microsoft is rolling out a new update to Windows 11 Insiders, according to a blog. That contains a number of fixes and improvements, including a Copilot button in Microsoft Paint.

Copilot button

When you click the Copilot button, a drop-down menu appears with all genAI functions: Cocreator and Image Creator (generate images based on drawings or prompts), Generative Erase (remove unwanted objects with AI) and Remove Background.

Those functions have all been in Paint for a while, but as of now they are neatly listed in this drop-down menu. That should save the user time and increase productivity. Other novelties in this update include the ability to search for photos stored in the cloud via the Windows search feature (only for Copilot+ PCs). In addition, bugs have been fixed in the taskbar, explorer, system tray and more.

For now, this update is only available in preview for Windows Insiders. When the update will be rolled out for all users is not yet known.
