NTT Data is launching its Smart AI Agent, an AI solution that helps companies implement generative AI. One of the main goals of the solution is to achieve $2 billion in sales by 2027.
NTT Data is launching Smart AI Agent. That is an AI solution to help companies implement generative AI faster and optimize workflows. The company expects to generate $2 billion in sales with this tool by 2027.
The Smart AI Agent automates complex workflows by autonomously retrieving, organizing and executing tasks. This allows employees to leave repetitive processes to the AI agent, allowing them to focus on strategic work. NTT Data sees this as an opportunity to improve efficiency across industries and support companies in evaluating and deploying generative AI applications.
NTT Data’s implementation of AI as an autonomous agent is not new. The eye of the AI hypestorm is currently over agents. An agent is a bot or automation within an IT system that operates based on AI algorithms. Salesforce is trying very hard to push AI agents as a concept, but is being followed by just about every major technology company.
Results
The AI solution is already showing results in specific industries, NTT Data said. For example, the tool helps improve DevOps data analytics in the automotive industry, optimize reporting processes in the financial sector and accelerate marketing cycles in the energy sector.
The Smart AI Agent has several capabilities, in line with what is typical for agents today:
- Task scheduling: Automate complex workflows by dividing tasks into manageable steps.
- Collaboration among AI agents: Coordinating multiple agents for greater efficiency.
- Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG): Contextual searches in internal data for better results.
- Agent Ops: Generate validation data for optimizing operational processes.
- User-in-the-Loop (UITL): As of March 2025, user feedback will be used to improve workflows autonomously.
The solution is designed for integration into both public and private cloud environments. Thus, it is suitable for companies that prioritize confidentiality and compliance.
NTT Data is rolling out the Smart AI Agent first in the U.S., China and Europe. Global availability will follow at a later date. The company is positioning the tool not only as a means of optimizing business processes, but also as a solution for addressing global workforce shortages. By automating repetitive tasks, employees can focus on more value-added activities.
More sales
It is notable that at the launch NTT Data refers not only to capabilities but also to projected sales. Two billion dollars is a lot on total sales of $30 billion for NTT Data in total. The focus on pennies is normal for a large company, but the explicit mention at the announcement is striking.
Mentions of AI, however, generate enthusiasm, and NTT Data clearly wants to ride that wave. Moreover, investors sometimes get sky-high expectations with AI solutions that are then not met. NTT Data tries to avoid such a situation by already defining the revenue target itself.
