Microsoft PowerToys is adding a new old friend to its utility suite: ZoomIt.
The Microsoft PowerToys utility package is getting a “new” familiar feature: ZoomIt. It allows users to zoom in on the screen, annotate or take a screen shot during presentations. This auxiliary feature has been around for several years, but in the new release, Microsoft PowerToys announces that ZoomIt continues to be updated with new features.
Old acquaintance
ZoomIt dates back to 1996, when it was written by Mark Russinovich. It is a “screen zooming, annotation and recording tool for technical presentations and demos,” as described in the release notes of PowerToys 0.88.
“The source code for this utility from Sysinternals has been released and included in PowerToys. ZoomIt will still be updated and provided by Sysinternals for users who prefer it as a stand-alone utility outside of PowerToys.”
ZoomIt is mainly used in presentations where users can make annotations, zoom the screen or take a shot. Furthermore, it is also useful for taking screenshots or cutting a file. Moreover, ZoomIt works on all versions of Windows. This utility belongs to PowerToys, which is available for download for Windows 10 and Windows 11 in the Microsoft Store.
