Microsoft may be working on new migration app for Windows PCs

Microsoft is reportedly working on a migration application to simplify the transition to a new PC.

Some Windows hackers noticed a Windows app that can make setting up your new PC easier, PC World reports. This migration app is hidden in new test builds of Windows and should simplify the transition to a new PC. Microsoft itself has not yet communicated anything about this. So it remains to be seen whether this tool will effectively be launched.

From here to there

If you bought a new device, then it is an obvious thing to reset your device if you have Android or iOS. For a Windows PC, this is still not so easy until today. However, Windows does offer a Backup app, although it does not have all the desired functionalities.

For example, you can use this app to back up all your files and then copy them to your new PC. This includes files in the folders photos, documents and installed apps from the Microsoft Store. Except that a Windows PC does contain more files than that. Are you using Adobe or AI models? Unfortunately, these will not be transferred.

That would change with Microsoft’s potentially new app. Windows hackers noted in new test builds that Windows’ migration app could mean a one-size-fits-all solution to move every file on your PC to a new PC. Microsoft has not yet communicated anything about this app.
