Microsoft resolves a bug where classic Outlook crashes when someone tries to send a new email.
Microsoft fixes a bug in the classic version of Outlook. It causes the program to crash when a user tries to start or open a new email. The issue occurs because Outlook cannot access the Forms library. According to the Outlook developers, the problem mainly arises in VDI environments.
Microsoft reports that the issue has now been addressed via an update, available in all major channels (Current Channel Preview, Monthly Enterprise Channel, Semi-Annual Enterprise Channel), for both Outlook 2021 and 2024. A patch will also be released for older versions.
You can also manually resolve the issue by creating the missing folder yourself. You need to create the FORMS2 folder at the following location: C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\FORMS2.
Other Bugs
Microsoft also immediately resolves another bug affecting some Outlook users. It concerns an issue where folders in the interface flickered when users moved items. This problem started after an update to Outlook 2505 (Build 18827.20128) and has now been fixed.
Outlook, especially the classic version, is an essential tool for business users worldwide. A bug in the software can have a direct impact on productivity within a company. Previously, Microsoft resolved a bug in Windows 11, but not without causing new issues in the process.
