Google is rolling out three new features for Chrome on desktop: Split View, PDF annotations, and a quick button to save PDFs to Google Drive.
According to Google’s announcement, the three new Chrome features are intended to increase user productivity.
Split View: two tabs in one
The most notable addition is Split View. By right-clicking on a tab, you can choose “Add tab to split view.” Chrome then opens a split screen within a single tab, allowing you to view two pages side by side. You can adjust the ratio, change the order, or detach the tabs again. This is useful for those who often have dozens of tabs open and want to quickly compare or copy without switching between tabs or windows.
PDF annotations in the browser
Chrome’s built-in PDF Viewer now lets users highlight text, make annotations, and add notes. You can quickly mark up or sign documents without relying on external software.
Save directly to Google Drive
When viewing a PDF, a “Save to Google Drive” option appears next to the download button. The file is automatically saved in the “from Chrome” folder.
The features have been quietly rolled out and should already be active for most users.
