Users are experiencing issues when downloading Google Chrome on their Windows PCs. Google reportedly swapped the Arm and x86 files.

“This app can’t run on your PC.” That is the pop-up that many users receive when they try to install Google Chrome on their Windows PC. This defective installation seems to be related to a faulty installer for Windows. According to WindowsLatest, Google has uploaded the Arm version instead of the widely used x86 version.

Defective Installer

Google Chrome is often one of the first apps that users install on a new Windows PC. However, some users noticed issues when downloading this application. They received the following message: “This app can’t run on your PC. To find a version for your PC, check with the software publisher.”

The problem was noticed by Windows Latest and, according to them, is related to an incorrect version of the Chrome installer for Windows. It appears that Google uploaded the Arm version of the Chrome installer for Windows instead of the x86-based systems, which are much more widely used.

On Arm devices, Google Chrome can be installed normally. It seems that Google accidentally swapped the files.
