Gemini AI in Sheets gets an update to enable more in-depth data analysis.
Google has begun rolling out an upgrade to its Gemini AI assistant in Google Sheets to simplify data analysis. Gemini can now provide more in-depth insights about data in spreadsheets from now on.
What’s new?
If you click in the sidebar of Google Sheets on Analyze for insights click, Gemini is prompted to show “contextual trends, patterns, and correlations between different variables in your data,” Google writes in a blog. That means users can ask questions about their data and get insights without needing technical knowledge.
In addition, Gemini can generate graphs based on spreadsheet data, Android Authority knows. Those graphs are inserted as static images, and are not automatically updated as the data changes. Gemini in Sheets can also now translate text prompts into Python code, run that code and analyze the results. That’s useful for in-depth analysis for people who can’t write Python code.
The Gemini side panel is available to Business or Enterprise Workspace customers with a Standard or Plus subscription. Anyone with a Gemini Education, Gemini Education Premium, Gemini Business or Gemini Enterprise add-on can also use the feature. By Feb. 20, the full rollout should be complete, according to Google.
