The DeepL API now offers access to both an advanced translation model and the AI writing assistant DeepL Write.
DeepL has expanded its API solution with two new features. The company integrates an improved LLM translation model and now also offers DeepL Write through the same interface. The new model is intended to make translations more accurate.
According to DeepL, blind tests show that the quality of translations from English to Japanese and Chinese, among others, is 1.7 times higher than with the previous model. For translations between English and German, there is an improvement by a factor of 1.4.
According to DeepL, the model performs better than other translation services: compared to Google Translate, two times fewer edits would be needed for a correct translation, and compared to ChatGPT-2024, even three times fewer.
DeepL Write
DeepL Write is an AI-assisted writing aid that provides real-time text correction and style suggestions. Through the DeepL API, companies can now also integrate this feature into their own applications. Unlike traditional grammar checks or generative AI tools, DeepL Write focuses on supporting the creative writing process. The tool makes suggestions regarding tone, word choice, and sentence structure. This should improve the quality of business texts, such as internal documents, customer communications, or legal contracts.
The new language model currently supports 33 languages, including Dutch, English, German, Japanese, and Chinese. DeepL Write is available for six languages, including English, German, French, and Spanish. The new features are accessible to DeepL API users. Customers with a DeepL API Pro subscription can count on additional data protection and the guarantee that their translated content will not be used for model training.
