The agreement between IBM and Capgemini provides customers with access to IBM’s quantum ecosystem as well as associated professional services.

Capgemini is launching a dedicated lab with a team of quantum technology experts around the world. Under the name Capgemini Quantum Lab, it is opening specialized facilities in the UK, Portugal and India.

The team will coordinate research programs to develop client proposals that can take advantage of quantum technology. Capgemini cited sectors including life sciences, financial services, automotive and aerospace in its announcement.

The dedicated Quantum Lab is a natural extension of the current specialized teams experimenting with the technology early today, including some incubation projects at some customers.

Along with the opening of the Quantum Lab, Capgemini is also signing a partnership with IBM under the name IBM Quantum Hub. This will give Capgemini customers access to IBM quantum systems, additional expertise and the open-source SDK.

Worldwide, there are more than 170 IBM Quantum Hub members including Fortune 500 companies, start-ups, academic institutions and research labs.

The Capgemini Quantum Lab will focus on three areas: computing, communication and sensitivity. Computing speaks for itself as a means of performing complex computer calculations. Communication, in turn, focuses on the control of information, taking quantum mechanics into account. Sensitivity points to the measurement of quantum states that are enormously sensitive to interference.
