The Windows 11 24H2 update continues to break things. Even the most obvious things are not a certainty in the latest Windows 11 version. Even the Alt + Tab shortcut combination has to suffer. Users reported via the Windows forum that the shortcut keys cause a black screen, once not a blue screen for a change, in Windows 11 24H2.
Alt + Tab are common keyboard shortcuts in Windows to switch screens when you have multiple apps open. It is one of the keyboard shortcuts that almost every Windows user knows by heart, like Ctrl + C. Since the installation of the Windows 11 24H2 update, the combination no longer does what it is supposed to do. Alt + Tab causes a black screen, or makes the screen freeze for several seconds.
Game mode off
Microsoft rolled out an update on Oct. 24 to address the problems in Windows 11 24H2, which are numerous, but that does not appear to provide immediate relief for Alt + Tab. November’s monthly security update would only fix the problem for good.
A temporary workaround Windows Latest discovered is to turn off “game mode. In the settings, go to System > Display > Graphics and make sure that Optimization for games is off.

Chaotic update
Windows 11 24H2 will go down in history as a very chaotic Windows update. Since the update became available to the general public in early October, problems continually surfaced. Blue screens were more the rule than the exception, but the update could also bring other unpleasant surprises.
