A bug in the new Outlook’s calendar prevented users from adding calendar entries when working with IMAP/POP3 accounts. Microsoft is not yet offering a real fix.
Microsoft acknowledges a problem in the new Outlook, in some cases preventing users from adding new appointments to their calendars. Users tied the cat to the bell via Microsoft’s forums.
Only third-party email addresses affected
A specialist acknowledged the problem and provided a temporary solution: the problem only occurs when a third-party IMAP/POP e-mail account is set as Outlook’s primary account. Those who can change that can bypass the bug. These include e-mail addresses from Google, for example. Addresses with a Microsoft domain do not have this problem.
By setting a Microsoft account as a primary email address, it is again possible to create calendar entries back in the current account. Microsoft Outlook has been experiencing frequent bugs and problems lately. For example, the application crashed when users wanted to copy text, and users with more than five hundred folders could no longer send mail.
There is no definitive solution to this problem yet, but the issue is on the agenda. The topic on the support forum remains open so users can share feedback.
