Adobe is no longer planning to discontinue Adobe Animate. The application is now in maintenance mode.
Adobe was planning to pull the plug on Adobe Animate, but quickly reversed this decision. Now, the company has announced that the 2D animation app is in maintenance mode and that there are “no plans to remove or terminate access to the app,” according to the updated FAQ page.
Initially, the company planned to make the 2D animation app available for one more year for existing customers, with business customers retaining access until March 1, 2029. Adobe cited the rapid growth of new technologies as the reason, much to the dismay of many users.
Maintenance Mode
“Animate will remain available to both current and new customers, and we will ensure that you continue to have access to your content. There is no longer a deadline or date on which Animate will no longer be available,” says Adobe.

Adobe Animate is currently in maintenance mode for all customers, both small businesses and enterprise clients. “Maintenance mode means that we will continue to support the application and provide ongoing security and bug fixes, but we will no longer add new features,” the company explains.
New users will, contrary to the earlier decision, still be able to download the application.
