Windows 10 Users Experience Problems After New Security Update

Windows 10 2022 Update

A new security update for Windows 10 appears to be problematic.

Normally, Windows 11 is consistently affected by update issues, but this time it’s Windows 10’s turn. This month’s KB5053606 update is causing numerous problems.

Waiting for Solutions

Not everyone is experiencing the same errors. Some users cannot install the update because the installation process fails. For others, the installation takes an extremely long time, which should not happen for a small update. Even when automatic updates are disabled, Windows decides to download the update anyway. This is not surprising in itself, as KB6063606 is an important security update and should indeed be installed automatically.

However, the real problems only begin after installation, reports Windows Latest. Icons are reportedly disappearing from the taskbar, and personal desktop customizations are being undone. Even more annoying is that Windows 10 suddenly becomes very slow and typing is registered with a delay. On top of that, users are experiencing problems with USB printers and the virtualization software Citrix.

Microsoft acknowledges the problems with printers and Citrix on a support page, but has not yet offered a solution for all the other issues users are experiencing. If you are affected, there is nothing else to do but wait.
