Cybersecurity incidents should be handled twice as fast in the future. At least that is the ambition of the Flemish project APAX. Three research groups and three Flemish technology and service companies have joined forces to improve cybersecurity.
APAX is a Flemish project that aims to boost cybersecurity by building more automation into the security of online systems. APAX is therefore an abbreviation for Automated Posture Analysis that Scales. In total, the project will take two years to complete.
Automate testing
Automation is central to the project. This benefits the time invested in addressing cybersecurity issues.
Specifically, on the one hand, the goal is to automate at least 60 percent of cybersecurity tests. Since there are hundreds of these tests and the project will take two years, APAX will be able to automate up to 50 of them. On the other hand, APAX wants to build more automation into the process of cybersecurity analysts and operators.
Driving forces
Research groups Awingu, Ceeyu and Toreon are leading the research. Flemish companies VUB Software Languages Lab, VUB Artificial Intelligence Lab and LSEC are providing their expertise.
From the Flemish Agency for Innovation & Entrepreneurship (VLAIO), the project is also receiving support. The project receives this support because it was selected as a cybersecurity ICON project. From VLAIO, APAX receives 1.7 million euros in support.
